How to invent a new Savior

By Brad

Christians will usually refer a new believer to the writings of Paul in the book of Romans to learn the "basics" of their new walk with God.
Yet, it would be hard to find a worse example than Paul in regard to honest writing.
Not only does Paul contradict the Old Testament(OT) teachings but Paul had no problem distorting any scripture that could be used to further his agenda and religion.
Romans chapter 10 is an excellent example of how Paul accomplished his goals by applying out of context partial quotes to his writing to lend it credibility.
Here is how Paul operates:
Rom 10:1-2
Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is
not based on knowledge.

It's interesting that Paul would claim the Jews who follow the law aren't basing their zeal on knowledge as his claim contradicts Proverbs 2:6 which states:
Prov 2:6
For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come
knowledge and understanding

Since the Lord God gave the law from his mouth to Moses, knowledge goes right along with following that very law.

Another verse which states that knowledge is found in obeying the commands of God is Psa 119:66 which states:
Psa 119:66
Teach me
knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in your commands.

Paul's claim has no foundation since knowledge is found in the law and commands of God. Those who don't follow the law are the ones without knowledge.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:3
Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.

Here Paul attempts to discredit those who follow the law. His assertion that those who follow the law are not submitting to God's righteousness is completely bogus. God gave his laws so that people could establish righteousness.
Deut 6:25
And if we are careful to obey all this law before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us,
that will be our righteousness.

Psa 119:40
How I long for your precepts(laws)! Preserve my life in your righteousness.

Obviously people could know righteousness because doing what the law instructed was righteousness. Paul's claim that people who follow the law aren't submitting to God is without basis.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:4
Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Paul drops his doctrinal bomb here.
According to Paul, Christ(or Messiah) is the END OF THE LAW.
However, the law was declared perfect in Psa 19:7 and eternal in Psa 119:152, 160.

Psa 19:7
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Psa 119:152,160
Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last
forever.
All your words are true; all your righteous laws are
eternal.

Since there is nothing in the Old Testament which states that a king messiah would abolish the Law, Paul has invented his own doctrine here.
Paul's new doctrine is completely unfounded and contradicts what God declared in the OT.
It also contradicts what Jesus said in Matt 5:18-19. This is the unsound and invented doctrine that Christianity has adopted to escape the requirements of observing all the complicated laws God laid down in the OT.
Paul was looking for Gentile converts to the new religion. Greeks and other non-Jews couldn't be bothered with all the complicated laws that the Jewish God Yahweh set down in the Old Testament.
The Law of God was Paul's competition and stood as an obstacle to gaining new converts.
Paul voided the Law with his pen, declaring that Jesus the Christ or Messiah did away with all those complicated regulations by becoming a human sacrifice.
The irony is that Christians will go around proclaiming how they believe the whole Bible and want to serve God, worship God, and do the "will" of God. Christians follow Paul, not God.
This is the shallow pool of deception that Christianity swims in and tries to lure others into with threats of hellfire.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:5
Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them."

Paul only partially quotes Lev 18:5 here.
The fuller context is:
Lev 18:4-5
You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God.
Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD.

The law is to be obeyed if one wants to find favor with God.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:6
But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, `Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down)

Paul now attempts to establish a new form of righteousness which is simply by faith alone with no compliance to the law being needed. In attempting this subterfuge, Paul partially quotes Deut 30:12 to suit his needs.
The full quote is:
Deut 30:12
It(the law) is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"

Deut 30:12 has nothing to do with Christ.
The law was given to the people and they don't need to be in any suspense regarding what to do to find favor with God. Simply have faith in God AND obey his laws. Paul wants to claim that Christ was needed to complete the "picture" for the people when there is no need for a Christ to do anything.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:7
or `Who will descend into the deep?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

There is no need to bring Christ up from the dead. The law was already given and serves to provide righteousness to the people.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:8
But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:

Paul distorts Deut 30 even more this time as he attempts to retrofit Jesus into Deut 30.
In attempting to do this, Paul dishonestly half quotes Deut 30:14 and omits Deut 30:9-11 as well.
Deut 30:10-11 throws such a huge wrench into Paul's theology it's no wonder he had no use for it.

First, Deut 30:14 actually states:
Deut 30:14
No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.

Paul's altered quote of Deut 30:14:
the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart

Notice that Paul leaves off of his quote "so that you may obey it". Paul has twisted Deut 30:14 by chopping off the part he wanted to get rid off. That omitted part is the instruction to obey the law!
Paul already claimed in verse Rom 10:4 that Christ was the end of the law and can't have people thinking the law should still be observed so he chops off the last part of Deut 30:14 to suit his need.
Replacing the law with faith in Jesus is his agenda and Paul has no trouble misapplying and taking out of context any OT verse that suits his needs.
The fuller context of Deut 30 reveals why Paul couldn't quote the verses honestly.

Deut 30: 9-11 declares:
Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers,
if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.

Little wonder Paul couldn't quote these verses. Not only does it state that obeying the law with all your heart and soul would make people prosper, it further states that the law was not too difficult to follow or beyond the reach of the people.
There is no need for Jesus anywhere here and Paul simply couldn't tolerate that as it ruined his plans to require that a new savior named Jesus be the savior for mankind.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

This(confessing "Jesus is Lord") is the word of faith that Paul claims Deut 30:14 is really about.
As already shown, Deut 30:14 has NOTHING to do with Christ and says nothing about confessing "Jesus is Lord".

God declared in Isa 45:21-22 that he ALONE was the ultimate savior. To be saved you must have faith in God, follow his laws, and recognize NO other savior.

Isa 45:21-22
Declare what is to be, present it-- let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is NO God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is NONE but me.
"Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is NO other."

Paul has invented a new savior named Jesus who people are supposed to turn to in order to find salvation.
The notions of Paul are contradicted by the Old Testament in many places. Some examples are:

Isa 43:11
I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.

Hosea 13:4
"But I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt. You shall acknowledge no God but me, no Savior except me.

At no time in the Old Testament are people instructed to worship a man as the sole source of salvation nor are they ever instructed to worship a man as God.
Christians will often attempt to get around this glaring problem by simply claiming that Jesus is God. But as already shown, that claim contradicts the Old Testament.
In addition to the fact that Jesus is never mentioned anywhere in the OT, basic logic discredits this attempt to dance around the problem. A son of God by definition can't be God himself and he who is supposed to be sitting at the right hand of God can't be God himself. Part man, part god, hybrids like Jesus have no basis in the OT and are pagan in origin.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:10-11
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

In Rom 10:11 Paul misquotes Isa 28:16 as he again twists the scripture to suit his needs.

Isa 28:16 states:
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed."

There is no reference to trusting Jesus in Isa 28:16.
The verse is referring to the trusting God's word and the Lord. The Lord IS NOT a man/god hybrid called Jesus.
Continuing on:
Rom 10:12-13
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

In Rom 10:13 Paul now quotes a piece of Joel 2:32.

Joel 2:32 states:
And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

Notice that Joel 2:32 says nothing about calling on Jesus. God already made it clear that he ALONE is the ultimate savior. There is no God called Jesus.
Looking at Joel 2:27 further exposes Paul's misuse of the Old Testament scripture.

Joel 2:27
Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the LORD your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.

Jesus is not the Lord God. That concept is a New Testament invention.
Paul's style was to twist pieces of the OT scripture, insert them into his story line, and manufacture his theology around out of context quotes.

It's interesting to note that Paul's deceptive use of the OT scriptures wasn't limited to his writings in the book of Romans. He practiced the same dishonesty in the following example:

Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
that
at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

This is an another attempt to make Jesus the God everyone should worship. Once again it steals a concept from the OT and distorts it to fit the savior mold Paul was advertising. Here's what the OT verses actually say about which God people are supposed to worship:
Isa 45:22-23
"Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.
By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked:
Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear."

According to the OT, God ALONE is the savior. There is NO other.
Isa 45:22-23 says nothing about God exalting a man/god named Jesus to the highest place and says nothing about having to confess Jesus is the Lord. Nor does it say anything about God giving his glory to him.
God already stated in Isa 45:21…
"And there is NO God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is NONE but me."

And God stated in Isa 42:8
"I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols."

Once again Paul twisted the OT verses to suit his needs. Christians constantly claim Paul's writings are the word of God yet they completely ignore the fact that Paul deliberately twisted the OT "word of God" into a pretzel in the process of inventing a new savior called Jesus.
Why should any honest thinking person accept these types of deceptive writing techniques used by Paul as the word of God???

It should also be noted that Paul had no problem using threats to silence any opposition of his concocted teachings. The use of threats can be quite effective in discouraging critical and objective thinking. Threats can keep believers in line and unquestioning.
Gal 1:9
As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

2 Cor 10:6
And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

Christianity can be distilled down into two basic elements…deceptive teachings and threats of punishment.

There is no man/god called Jesus in the Old Testament. There is no Son of God who will have to be worshipped to join God's fold. There is no Christ(Messiah) that will cancel the Law and who people must confess as their God and savior.
That new doctrine was invented by the New Testament writers, Paul in particular.
This is the type of dishonest fabrication and twisting of the OT that Christianity hangs it's hat on. It's a man-made, manufactured belief system which uses some very slick tactics to suck people into it's net.
